Bat Conservation Ireland runs a number of monitoring programmes under contract to the National Parks and Wildlife Service as well as the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. Funded projects include:
- Car-based Bat Monitoring Scheme
- The All-Ireland Daubenton’s Bat Waterways Monitoring Scheme
- Brown Long-eared Bat Roost Monitoring
- Lesser Horseshoe Bat Monitoring.
Additionally the Woodland Monitoring has been supported through the Local Biodiversity Action Fund (LBAF) which is operated by the NPWS to assist Local Authorities to carry out projects that target the objectives of Ireland’s 4th National Biodiversity Action Plan (NBAP) 2023-2030.
We receive Core Funding annually from the Irish Environment Network through funding received from the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment. Membership and donations also provide valuable additional funding for conservation, outreach and educational work. Additional funding has been received from various sources for specific projects, such as Patagonia (the clothing company) for bat box building workshops, from Local Authorities for the Landscape Conservation for Irish Bats project, from the Heritage Council for various projects to support conservation work and from the Community Foundation for Ireland to support innovative research on Irish bats and the services they provide.
We occasionally receive donations from individuals or organisations, which are all acknowledged on receipt.
We gratefully acknowledge funding received through various different funding streams and members of the public.
