Bat Conservation Ireland does not carry out bat surveys for developers or landowners. If you require the services of a consultant bat worker, we recommend that you search the directory of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). However, please note that the CIEEM list of consultant bat workers is not exhaustive.
Bat Conservation Ireland does not comment on individual planning applications.
Bat Conservation Ireland was officially launched at Avondale House, Rathdrum, in June 2004 by Dr Kate McAney and Brian Keeley. Bat Conservation Ireland (BCIreland) is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with Charitable Tax Exemption status.
In January 2011 BCIreland became a Limited Company by Guarantee (Company Number 494343). The Company Secretary is John Curtin and the Treasurer is Dr Chris Peppiatt. Company Directors are: Brian Keeley, Chris Peppiatt and Caroline Shiel.
Bat Conservation Ireland is run by a Council with 9-14 members who volunteer their time to attend meetings, guiding the organisation on policy issues and representing Bat Conservation Ireland in Ireland and abroad. Bat Conservation Ireland staff, all of whom work on a part time basis, are Dawn Quinn – Administrator and Drs Tina Aughney and Niamh Roche who manage the bat monitoring schemes and other scientific and educational projects.
