Events for Biodiversity Week 2021

We are delighted here at Bat Conservation Ireland to launch our programme of events for Biodiversity Week 2021.

As we are still under some restrictions, we have a rich and varied programme of online events and virtual activities to help you learn more about bats and engage in some fun activities!

‘An Introduction to bats in Limerick‘ – Limerick Bat Group
Monday 17 May 2021 @ 7 – 8pm

‘Bats in Ireland – a Virtual Exploration of Bats likely to Visit your Garden’ – Dr. Tina Aughney
Tuesday 18 May 2021 @ 7.30pm

Thursday Talk ‘Nathusius’ Pipistrelle in Ireland: An Overview’ – Paul Scott
Thursday 20 May 2021 @ 7.30pm – 8.30pm

‘Using heterodyne bat detectors‘ – Limerick Bat Group
Friday, 21 May 2021 @ 7 – 8pm

‘How can community groups help their local bat populations?’ – Dr. Tina Aughney
Saturday 22 May 2021 @ 7.30pm

Launch of children’s writing competition – ‘Bat Stories‘ and adult baking competition ‘Batty Bakes‘
Sunday 23 May 2021

‘Bat Rescue: An Introduction’ – Susan Kerwin, Bat Rehabilitation Ireland & Limerick Bat Group
Tuesday 25 May 2021 @ 7pm

We will also be posting about plants that are good for bat activity, sounds of the different Irish bat species, the various stages of a year in the life of a bat and encouraging
people to send us their bat sightings!
