‘Bats about Rooks!’ – Bat Walk and Talk

Join Irish Wildlife Trust Laois/Offaly Branch, Bird Watch Ireland and Kildare Bat Group for a walk through the People’s Park, Portlaoise. We will hear from Ricky Whelan about the Rookery just outside the park at the Downs, now known to be the largest roost in County Laois, and then walk through the park along the Triogue to hear about bats from Anna Collins of Kildare Bat Group.

Meet the group at the Car Park of the People’s Park, New Road, Portlaoise.

Details:

  • Please wear appropriate footwear (as it may be wet underfoot) and warm outdoor clothing, wear a hi viz vest and bring a torch.
  • As the event will be out after dark along the river bank, children/young people under 18 are very welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • This is a family-friendly event & is free of charge.
  • Please let the organisers know of any accessibility needs and they will do their best to put these in place.
  • Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event.
