May 16, 2022 @ 9:00 pm

Explore the hidden world of Kilkenny Castle Park: join our Dusk Bat Walk for adults

For a chance to experience the acoustic world of Irish bat species, Bat Conservation Ireland will be giving a bat walk at Kilkenny Castle. These nocturnal mammals, while not blind, rely on echolocation to orientate and hunt insects during the hours of darkness. The numerous bat species known to hunt along the River Nore in Kilkenny city include the common pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelles, Leisler’s bats and Daubenton’s bats.
