Bat Swarming at Dunmore Cave – International Bat Night Event

IRELAND’S INTERNATIONAL BAT NIGHT EVENT

Join us at the Dunmore Cave Visitor Centre and help us celebrate International Bat Night 2026!  Anna Collins from Kildare Bat Group will explain many of the fascinating aspects of bat ecology and swarming behaviour seen by some species. It will also be an opportunity to see Ireland’s first Bat Box Wall and to discuss bat box developments over recent years.

A range of bat recording devices will be on hand to hear bats emerging from Dunmore soon after nightfall and special night vision equipment will allow visitors to see bats emerging from the cave entrance.

This is a joint Bat Conservation Ireland & OPW event to celebrate International Bat Night 2026

Suitable for ages 7+ and all children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.

Please bring a warm waterproof coat and strong footwear.
