Batty for Hallowe’en Competition

October 23, 2020 By Dawn Quinn

BAT CONSERVATION IRELAND’S

Hallowe’en Competition

The theme is: Best Bat-Themed Hallowe’en Decoration

We are asking all of our supporters (adults included!) to put their thinking caps on and make a bat inspired Hallowe’en decoration.  This competition has a wide interpretation, so it could be anything from hanging decorations to a Hallowe’en display.  Be as creative as you like (as long as it is an original piece of work) – the decoration can be made of any type of material, although as a conservation organisation we advocate for using recyclable materials – put those empty toilet rolls to good use!  Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, please take a photograph of your decoration and email it to us at: [email protected].  Closing date for entries is Sunday 1 November 2020.  Winners will be announced on Monday 23 November 2020 and will be informed directly.

Prizes for the competition are as follows:

Younger supporters

  • First Prize: €40 voucher for the Art and Hobby Shop
  • Second Prize: €30 voucher for Easons
  • Third Prize: Learn About Bats T-Shirt

Older Supporters:

  1. First Prize: Bat Conservation Ireland Jacket
  2. Second Prize is: A copy of Irish Bats in the 21st Century
  3. Third Prize is: Bat Conservation Ireland Travel Mug

Please read the following terms and conditions of the competition:

  1. The competition is open to both adults and children (the child category will be up to the age of 16 (age on the closing date of the competition 1 November 2020)).
  2. The text of the theme and competition name does not have to be illustrated on your artwork. We are looking for your interpretation of the theme through your art.
  3. Entrant name, address, age and date of birth must be clearly printed on the entry email, and the entry must be attached to the same email. Please include a telephone contact number of a parent/guardian for children’s entries.  In the entry email for children, the parent/guardian must confirm that the attached artwork is the unaided and original work of the entrant.  Any entries bearing incomplete entry details or unclear photographs of the artwork may not be considered.
  4. We are asking entrants to submit a photograph or video of their decoration (due to the Covid 19 restrictions). We encourage you to take a clear photograph or video of the artwork in good lighting conditions so that the judges can assess the work fairly.
  5. Any entries that have been subject to digital modification will be disqualified.
  6. All entries must be submitted in jpg or MP4 format.
  7. The entry can use any type of material you wish; however, we encourage the use of recyclable materials. No computer aided design (CAD) may be entered.
  8. It should be noted that once the photo or video of the artwork is received by us, it becomes the property of Bat Conservation Ireland and may be reproduced at our discretion.  All entries are accepted as original works and we are not responsible for any breach of copyright.
  9. Entrants may enter the competition only once.
  10. We reserve the right not to award prizes. The decision of the adjudicators is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
