SUMMARY:9th Irish Bat Conference
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT FOR SATURDAY 14th OCTOBER. A LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SUNDAY. \nOur bat conference is held every three years and is an educational\, scientific and social focus for all fans of bats in Ireland. \nThis year’s conference consists of a day of talks on Saturday Oct 14th followed by an evening wine reception. Sunday 15th will be a half day of interactive workshops and we finish up after a light lunch. \n\nView the full conference programme here\n\nVets & veterinary nurses you will BE AWARDED CVE POINTS for attending the Sunday workshops! \nFor this upcoming conference in Dublin we have two keynote speakers lined up; Dr Christian Voigt of Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research\, Germany\, and Dr Danilo Russo of Naples University\, Italy. Christian will present results of some of his work as co-editor of the book “Bats and the Anthropocene: Conservation of Bats in a Changing World” while Danilo will present work on bats and ecosystem services particularly in the context of his recent research on bat insect predation in cattle grazing habitats. Invited speaker\, Lucinda Kirkpatrick\, will talk about her research on pipistrelle bats in Scottish conifer plantations. Irish bat researchers\, workers and volunteers will also present talks on their research and experiences during a packed and informative day. \nWorkshops on Sunday will include sessions on Bat Rehabilitation\, New Technology\, Bat Sonogram Analysis\, Identifying Irish Bats and Bat Mitigation. \nTickets can be booked for either or both Saturday and Sunday. Price includes access to talks and/or workshops\, teas/coffees\, lunch on the day and the wine reception on Saturday evening. Accommodation and dinner are the responsibility of individual delegates. The Clayton Hotel Leopardstown is offering a limited number of rooms at a special discounted conference rate. You can contact the hotel directly for more information. \nWhile there is some parking available at the hotel we would like to encourage all delegates to avail of public transport to attend the conference.
