SUMMARY:Bat Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Kildare Bat Group at Abbeyleix Bog\, for a batty fun-filled evening! At 9.30pm at the end car park of Abbeyleix Manor Hotel meet Anna Collins who will lead a bat walk to the bog and back. Using bat detectors you can listen in on their ultrasonic calls and watch these elusive creatures in flight. Anna will describe some of the Irish species and their life cycle as the walk progresses. \nThis event is free and open to all. It is being held as part of Biodiversity Week 2019. Co-organisers are Portlaoise Men’s Shed and Abbeyleix Bog Project. \nPlease wear sturdy footwear and warm outdoor clothing and bring a torch. Children welcome if accompanied by an adult. DESCRIPTION:Bat Conservation Ireland needs YOUR help to map Ireland’s bats! Please feel welcome to come along on a free evening training course for the BATLAS 2020 scheme. \nTraining involves an indoor presentation followed by an outdoor survey that aims to identify the four target bat species. \nBATLAS training and surveys are suitable for people who already have some experience of bat surveying\, but who want to gain experience in identifying more species and survey in new locations. Examples might be volunteers who have already completed Daubenton’s waterways training and surveys. \nPlease wear sturdy footwear\, outdoor clothing.
