Bat Conservation Ireland was officially launched at Avondale House, Rathdrum, in June 2004 by Dr Kate McAney and Brian Keeley. Bat Conservation Ireland (BCIreland) is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with Charitable Tax Exemption status.
In January 2011 BCIreland became a Limited Company by Guarantee (Company Number 494343). The Company Secretary is Dr Tina Aughney and Treasurer is Dr Chris Peppiatt. Company Directors are: Brian Keeley & Chris Peppiatt.
Bat Conservation Ireland is run by a Council with 14 members who volunteer their time to attend meetings, guiding the organisation on policy issues and representing Bat Conservation Ireland in Ireland and abroad. Bat Conservation Ireland contractors are Dr Tina Aughney and Dr Niamh Roche who are responsible for managing the bat monitoring schemes and day-to-day administrative tasks.
BCIreland does not carry out bat surveys for developers or landowners. If you require the services of a consultant bat worker, we recommend that you search the directory of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). However, please note that the CIEEM list of consultant bat workers is not exhaustive.
