The events listed below are being run by various organisations including local bat groups, The National Parks and Wildlife Service, local authority Heritage Officers, Northern Ireland's Country Parks and Bat Conservation Ireland. Please check this page regularly for updates.

Launch of 'Landscape Conservation for Irish Bats' Dataset

  • Monday January 23rd
Royal Irish Academy, Dawson St., Dublin 2, 3.00pm. In 2011 Bat Conservation Ireland commissioned the Centre for Irish Bat Research to carry out analyses of bat records, habitats, climate and other factors, and to map areas across Ireland that are likely to be important for bats, and where bats may be more vulnerable. The results of the study will be available as a map layer on the National Biodiversity Data Centre website.

Mid-Summer's Week Bat Count

  • June 2012 - Dates to be announced
Over 8,000 bats were counted during this annual event in 2011. So if you have a bat roost or know of one locally, why not count the bats as they are emerging and log the results on our website? More details will be available closer to the time.
